抄録
Witness statements of legal anthropologists play a significant role in refugee cases in the U.K. This document aims to introduce how the tribunal takes into account witness statements in order to examine the country of information for the appellant. In this case, a legal anthropologist stated that Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) was a nearly universal practice among all ethnicities in Sierra Leone and that girls were in danger of being forced to undergo FGM if they returned to Sierra Leone from the U.K. The tribunal found the expert’s report consistent with much of the background evidence.
