抄録	近年、いわゆる「存在論的転回」を巡って、日本語でも議論や情報共有が広がってきた。そうした「転回」の新たなアプローチとして、「ポリティカル・オントロジー（以下、PO)」が提案されている。本稿では、これらの論者の著作を検討し、POの分析方法を整理することを目的とする。これまで、天然資源開発や環境保全と先住民との間のコンフリクトの分析では、普遍の「環境」が大前提とされてきた。それに対しPOは、先住民にとって「環境」とは全く異なった実在が大前提にあることに注目する。この前提において、P Oは、コンフリクトに至るまでにどのような人間と非人間の関係性が作り上げられたか（歴史的コンテクスト）、その中で先住民は非人間についてどのような概念や実践を通じて関わっているのか（在来の概念）、そしてどのように西洋の存在論が、先住民の世界を「信仰」や「文化」に還元し、政治の領域から排除してきたのか（存在論の力関係）を、明らかにする。さらにP Oは、人類学者と人びとの間の「会話」というミクロな場を考察する。こうした場には、同じ語や概念を使って対話する両者が、異なる世界を跨いでいるために経験する根本的な「誤解」があり、異なる存在論の間の緊張を伴う交流が浮かび上がるのである。こうした分析からPOは、“ われわれ” が「自然」と扱ってきたものの多数性や可能性、そして「多元世界」の政治に対する想像力を、喚起することを試みる。
抄録	This article provides an overview of the framework of political ontology (PO) as elaborated by Mario Blaser, Marisol de la Cadena, and Arturo Escobar. Recently, Japanese anthropologists have translated key works of the socalled “ontological turn” and thereby formed general understandings of this theoretical movement; however, such research has not included PO. This article reviews the works of the above-named authors and presents an overview of their main analytical points for the purpose of sharing ideas of PO in this language. Inspired by the concepts of the actor-network theory and multinaturalism, both of which re-consider the natureculture dichotomy, PO tends to focus on cases in which extractivist or environmentalist practices confl ict with those of indigenous people. Whereas political economy and political ecology assume that what is at stake in such situations is the “environment,” PO perceives these clashes to embody a confl ict between different “worlds.” In that regard, what we call the “environment” is not only an object of modern knowledge but also emerges as “persons” through indigenous concepts and practices. PO fi rst analyzes historical contexts to consider how nation-states, the market economy, scientists, indigenous leaders, community members, and other entities interact with nonhumans. Second, it investigates the types of concepts that indigenous people refer to and perform. For example, what scientists call “an animal” can also be the spirit with whom people maintain reciprocity relations. The third point of PO is the hegemony of western ontology, which reduces complex systems of indigenous knowledge to quaint elements of “belief” or “culture” that are not treated seriously in modern politics. The PO framework also examines what de la Cadena calls “our conversations” between the ethnographer and local interlocuters, which entail an encounter between two different worlds. Borrowing the notion of “equivocation” from Viveiros de Castro, PO shows how misunderstandings about what is at stake render such communications multivocal and opens up political heterogeneity based on the “uncommon world.”
