Abstract
Ryunosuke Akutagawa's “Hankechi" is a work published in the magazine “Chuokoron” in 1916. Various things have been said about this work, some of which discuss its influence with Inazo Nitobe. In this article, I pointed out that Nitobe Inazo's discourse, which was thought to be the original story, was published in the magazine “Nico-Nico”, and then carefully compare how “Hankechi" differs from the original story. Through this kind of work, I would like to shed some light on the creative methods of Akutagawa's early works, and at the same time consider the themes that Akutagawa wanted to express in “Hankechi". This is not only a part of Akutagawa's research, but also a study of the magazine “Nico-Nico" which has been the subject of my research for many years.
