Abstract
This is my translation of §§75 to 99 of Orator of Cicero. In §§75 to 99, Cicero discusses there styles : plain, medium and grand. Each of these three styles has its own form (§75). Of the three styles the most important is the plain style. In the preface, Cicero says that people praise Attic style of speech and despise grand style of speech, which they consider to be Asiatic, but that they do not know true Attic style of speech (§22 and §23). Cicero maintains that he will explain what true Attic style is (§24). The theme of Orator is what the “ideal orator” is (§3 to 6). The Attic style of speech as the ideal oration is explained here in these sections.
