Abstract	The experience of studying A. S. Pushkin’s adapted novella ‘The Snowstorm’ in a group of university students and bilingual students is discussed within the article. A comparative analysis of the organization of the educational process in the groups mentioned is carried out. The article describes in detail the pedagogical methods and techniques used, the difficulties in understanding the text for students in both groups, their typical mistakes, and their assessments of the plot of the adapted novel. Conclusions are drawn about the need to combine the study of the literary text with its socio-cultural and historical background, as well as about the level of effectiveness of the pedagogical methods used, and the possibility of their further applications.
