Abstract	Thermodynamic relationships between enthalpy of mixing and excess entropy, and partial enthalpy of solution and partial excess entropy in solid solutions of binary alloys have been derived based on the free volume theory. Using the above relations, excess entropy and excess Gibbs energy of solid solutions in Ag-Au, Ag-Pd and Au-Pd binary alloys have been calculated from enthalpy of mixing, and compared with the literature values.
