Abstract
Higher Education Evaluation and Accreditation Council of Taiwan (HEEACT) held its annual international conference “2010 HEEACT International Conference: Learning, Teaching and Research in Global Times" in Taipei on June 3, 2010. University ranking was the main issue discussed at the Conference as well as at its Pre-Forum. Performance Ranking of Scientific Papers of World Universities, produced by HEEACT, focuses on the qualitative and quantitative statistics of scientific papers and lists 500 top world class universities. College Navigator in Taiwan, which is also produced by HEEACT, is a good example of the user-based ranking tool that is useful for students to find out the universities they are interested in. UI GreenMetric Ranking of World Universities, established by University of Indonesia in 2010, will help universities develop policies on sustainable development Higher education institutions and evaluation agencies are recently producing diversified university ranking systems. Diversified rankings are good for universities because they can benefit from varying definitions of top universities based on different criteria and indicators
