Abstract
他者の記憶が心に深く根づき、つねに自分の生き方や行動を規定するまでになるとき、これを私たちは「記憶の継承」と呼ぶ。戦争の記憶、差別の記憶、被災の記憶など、これらの継承すべき「他者の記憶」を、私たちはいかに風化させずに、人が他者とともに生きていくための〈共生知〉として継承できるだろうか。また、それがもはや会うことも、語ることもできない死者たる他者の記憶だとしても、継承は可能なのだろうか。本稿は2018年10月7日開催の教育哲学会第61回大会ラウンドテーブルで共同発表された研究成果の報告である。それぞれに他者――ハンセン病患者、アイヌの人々、元従軍慰安婦、沖縄の人々、震災に遭った人々など――と出会い、その記憶の継承という課題に対峙してきた4人の登壇者の発表と議論から導き出されたのは、共生社会の実現をめざして他者の記憶――とりわけ災厄の記憶――を継承するには、継承者が自らの加害性を省みること、ある条件を備えた媒介者が存在すること、そして〈原郷〉なるものに思いを馳せることが必要だということであった。
When the memories of others take deep roots in the mind and take control of one’s ways of life and behaviors, we call this “inheritance of the memories of others.” How do we inherit memories from people who have experienced wars, discrimination, and disasters and then use them as ‘knowledge for co-existence’ to get along with others? Is it possible for us to inherit memories from deceased individuals whom we have neither met nor talked with? This paper aims to report the research presentations from the Round Table session at the 61st annual conference of the Philosophy of Education Society of Japan, held on October 7, 2018. Four presenters have all addressed the inheritance of memories from others, including leprosy patients, the people of Ainu, former comfort women, the people of Okinawa, people who have experienced serious disasters, and others. One message from their presentations and discussions is that it is necessary for successors to reflect on their own harmfulness, to encounter someone who could mediate between experiencers and successors, and to imagine ‘Gen-kyo’ ―Gen-kyo is described as an alien spirit-world of excess where all lives and things generated themselves but existed in a nameless and formless state, swirling in chaos ―in order to inherit the memories of others and to co-exist with them.
