Abstract	本研究は，日本国内のK 大学で行われている英語での授業に対して、留学生による授業評価アンケートを分析し、教員による適切な回答が授業満足度に与える影響を検討した。また、補助的に、授業中における日本人学生との交流機会、教員の英語のわかりやすさ、ティーチング・アシスタント（以下、TA）の授業への貢献度、授業の見通しが、授業満足度に与える影響も調査した。授業評価アンケートは、2010年から2018 年の9年間にわたって、各学期に中間と期末の2回実施され、分析対象となった授業科目数は延べ382科目、サンプル数は9,672件である。SPSSによる分析の結果、教員が適切な回答をしている授業は満足度が高く、また日本人学生との交流機会も満足度に影響を与えていた。そして、教員の英語のわかりやすさと授業の見通しも、授業満足度に関係していたが、TAの授業への貢献度との関連はみられなかった。本研究より、英語による授業を担当する教員にとって、学生からの質問に対して適切に回答すること、日本人学生との交流機会を提供すること、学生とのコミュニケーションを重視すること、わかりやすく適度な声で話すこと、授業の見通しを工夫することの重要性が示唆された。
Abstract	This study investigates the effects of instructors’ appropriate answers to questions from students on student satisfaction of classes taught in English at “K University” in Japan by analyzing class evaluations completed by international students. Furthermore, other factors such as interactions with Japanese students during classes, the teachers’ English understandability, contributions to the classes by teaching assistant (TA), and well-constructed class plans, were also examined regarding satisfaction of the classes. Class evaluations were conducted twice each semester as mid-term and term-end evaluations for 9 years: from 2010 to 2018. A total of 9,672 students in 382 classes completed evaluation questionnaires. Analyses of these questionnaires, using a correlation analysis and a multiple variable regression analysis, revealed that the factors of instructors’ appropriate answers to questions from students have a significant relationship on student satisfaction of classes. Moreover, interaction with Japanese students, the understandability of the teachers’ English and well-constructed class plans were also influential factors on class satisfaction. However, on the other hand, contributions by the teaching assistant showed no relationship to class satisfaction. In conclusion, this paper suggests that even teachers who are less confidence in English communication were still able to receive positive results of class satisfaction by trying to answer students’ questions appropriately, providing opportunities to interact with Japanese students, putting emphasis on communication with students, using understandable English with moderate voice volume, and well-constructed classes.
