Abstract
The purpose of this paper was to develop a psychological scale to assess self-efficacy on stress coping of nurses. The sample was consisted of 228 nurses (one male and 227 female) working in a public hospital. The questionnaire survey was conducted with three measurements, which included a newly developed self-efficacy scale on coping efficacy of nurses, the General Self-efficacy Scale (GSES), and the Stress Response Scale-18(SRS18). Factor analysis revealed that the scale had one factor structure including five items with best fit(χ2(5)=7.81,p=.17; CFI=.99; GFI=.99; AGFI=.96;RMSEA=.05) and had high internal consistency (Cronbach α=.85). Correlation analysis revealed that there were significant moderate correlation between our self-efficacy scale, and two GSES subscales (r=.40 & -.55) and SRS-18 (r=-.46). Our survey developed self-efficacy scale on coping efficacy of nurses with one factor and five items structure, and our findings may offer the validity and reliability of the scale.
