Abstract
高垣眸の『豹の眼』以降、日本における宝探しの物語はその宝を継承する正当性の確認がもう一つの主題となっており、山田長政の秘宝をめぐる南洋一郎の『日東の冒険王』(1937)はその典型的な例といえる。本論では、その話形が戦後も継承された一方で、オーストラリアで埋蔵金伝説が生まれた経緯を対比する。
Japanese treasure hunt narratives, loosely based on Haggard's King Solomons Mines, seems to emphasise that the Japanese characte(s), attempting to create an ideal empire, should have the treasure in foreign land. One of the best examples is Minami's Nitto no Boken-o [Japanese Adventurers, 1937], dealing with Nagamasa's hidden treasure in Thailand. While the framework of the novel is still reused in Japanese popular culture or manga, Nagamasa's treasure narrative coincidentally brings about the legends concerning his buried treasure in Australia.
