Abstract
上野動物園の黒豹脱走事件は、当時から1936年の三大事件にも数えられ、重要な影響を及ぼした。黒豹は、安川雄之助を団長とする暹羅派遣経済使節が1936年に持ち帰り、上野動物園に寄贈したものであり、近代におけるシャムからの動物招来の系譜に連なる。事実、この事件は、前年にシャムから寄贈された象の花子の戦時中における殺処分の遠因ともなった。それは軍部や行政の指示というよりも、関東大震災に際して発生した流言と猛獣処分の延長にあり、1920年代から流行していた南洋一郎の作品による猛獣狩りへの憧憬と不安とが不安をさらに醸成した可能性が考えられる。
In 1936 Yasukawa's Economic Mission came back from Siam with a black leopard. The leopard, donated to the Ueno zoo, escaped in the same year. Although it was re-captured after about 12 hours, this incident caused a serious sensation in Tokyo and might have led to the slaughter of animals in 1943, including Hanako, a famous elephant from Siam.
