Abstract
This paper explores the evaluation of a remote class observation system which provides class observation opportunities for Japanese language teaching trainees with diverse backgrounds from multiple universities. The survey was paperbased and targeted teachers on the observation side. Responses were obtained from teachers from five different universities, and were analyzed using SCAT, a qualitative analysis method. As a result of the analysis, 66 "Theory-writing" elements were obtained, which were classified into five categories: "Aims of participation," "Methods of use," "Learning of trainees," "Advantages," and "Disadvantages". The system was found to be inclusive of universities with diverse backgrounds, and it became clear the system is capable of triggering "learning of trainees" that goes beyond the "purpose of participation". We were also able to confirm the direction this remote class observation system aims to take.
