Abstract
This study investigates the process of “eutainment” performed through interactions within a radio program. It takes Childrenʼs Science Telephone Consultation broadcasted in Japan for thirty years as a perspicuous example. The program broadcasts phone-in consultations between an expert and a child over a scientific topic about which the child has been wondering. The microanalysis of the 70 recordings revealed the expertʼs deployment of a puzzle-solution sequence and the hostʼs mediation make it possible for the child and the listeners to gain a professional vision in science. These interactional efforts construct a broadcasted phone-in consultation interaction as an edutainment practice.
