Abstract
This report presents six examples and introduces the judgments by MAGARIBUCHI Kagetsugu. He was the Osaka Town Magistrate from December 1765 to August 1769. He was known as a great magistrate. The topics of his trial are recorded in books such as Meiwa Zakki. Comparing these stories with the laws of the time, we find that the sentences were within the legal limits and were more in line with the victims. After serving as a town magistrate in Osaka, he also served as a town magistrate in Edo.
