Abstract
2018年6月，大阪北部地震の発生直後に，大阪大学の学生たちの間で余震を不安視する声や学校情報に関する不満が散見された．一方で，東日本大震災や熊本地震の経験から，災害時の情報伝達手段としてSNSが大きな役割を果たすことが知られている．本研究では，大阪北部地震で被災した大阪大学学生がどのようにSNSを利用し，またSNSからどのような影響を受けたのかを調査するため，共通教育科目「現代社会を読み解く～科学技術と社会～」の履修者のうち108名と，ほか1名の学生を対象にウェブアンケート調査を行なった．調査の結果，普段と比べて地震時には学生たちのSNSの利用時間が増加しており，SNSを通して「授業に関すること」，「地震による被害状況」，「交通情報」が特に求められていたことが明らかとなった．これらは大学に関係する情報と地域密着性の高い情報だった．また，回答者の半数以上がSNSによって地震による恐怖が改善されたと回答しており，SNSの利用が学生の心理的ケアに寄与したと考えられる．以上から，SNSは災害時の学生たちの情報への不満や心理的な不安の解消に効果的であり，大学は災害時においてSNSを有効に活用することが求められる.
The Osaka earthquake in June 2018 caused anxiety among students at Osaka University regarding expected aftershocks and a lack of information concerning students’ lives. The past two earthquakes, the Great East Japan Earthquake and the Kumamoto earthquake, have revealed the importance of social media as communication tools and for providing important information during and after disasters. This study examines how Osaka University students used social media during the earthquake and its effects on them. A web-based questionnaire was administered to 108 students who had taken the lecture, “Interpreting Contemporary Society” and the other student. Responses showed that, after the earthquake, students spent more time on social media and demanded information, especially about their classes, earthquake damage, and public transport. This information was strongly connected to their school life and their region. Responses further revealed that over half the students had less psychological anxiety with the help of social media. These two results indicate that, when disaster strikes, social media can satisfy students’ demands for information and relieve their psychological anxiety. Therefore, the university should seek effective use of social media in case of disaster.
